Experiment in simultaneous interpretation

Simultaneous interpretation was proposed during the January 2022 webinar. It was well prepared and the interpreters delivered a good translation but it was not useful in the end because:

  • Only one question was asked in French and another in Chinese
  • There were around 25 participants and their volume was not tuned in advance so the sound overlapped and the translation was difficult to understand

These problems must be addressed before trying again in a webinar. The next event, in February, will be a videoconference with just a few people (around 5) and more French & Chinese speaking time. The same setup should be much more useful.
