The conclusions of the experiment are globally positive and it will be repeated for the next monthly update. Since I was the one speaking in French and I’m comfortable speaking English, it was not for real. But the next update will be. The following need work:
- Participants must be warned to not listen to the translation, even though they understand it. Otherwise it is sequential and not simultaneous.
- Participants must speak slowly.
- A 15 minutes session must be organized with the translator and the person being translated, to get use to it.
- Technical terms are an issue and lead to confusing translation. The participants must be reminded to use as few as possible.
