I appreciate the vote of confidence 
There is a potential diplomatic complication: since Heptapod is a friendly fork of GitLab, would it be a problem for it to include federated features? That would essentially bypass anti-features of the Free Software version, such as mirroring git in both directions. The last thing I want is to create problems for Heptapod, which is a great project.
